Call for Symposia

The Organizing Committee encourages the submission of proposals for symposia. The goal of these symposia is to provide a forum for focused discussions on new and emerging topics or innovative applications of established approaches.

A symposium may be centred around a specific theme, or it may expose the work done by societies or international consortia.

Fixed number of symposia

Please note that we will accept a maximum of 10 symposia to be held during the ESB 2021 conference. This is to allow the participants to attend the symposia beside the regular conference program.

The proposals that are of interest to a large audience and that are not selected for a symposium, may be included in the scientific program as a theme of a regular session.

Proposals for symposia

The deadline for submission of the proposals for symposia is December 15th, 2020.

Please complete all details and send the proposal by e-mail to info@esb2021.org. The proponents will be informed about the acceptance or rejection in January 2021.

Symposia speakers and chairs

The duration of each symposium is 90 min to accommodate the scientific program schedule. The symposia are led by a chair and a co-chair, both registered participants to avoid no-show onsite.

Each symposium should consist of 1 keynote presentation and 4 presentations selected from the submitted abstracts. The allocated presentation time, including Q&A, is 30 min for the keynote speaker and 15 min for contributed papers.

Upon acceptance of the symposia, the keynote speaker has to submit an abstract of the presentation before March 15th, 2021. The keynote speakers of the proposals that have not been selected for a symposium will get the opportunity to submit an abstract for regular scientific program before March 15th, 2021.

Please note that all financial arrangements with keynote speakers for symposia are at the account of symposia organisers. The ESB or the conference organiser do NOT pay for any costs of your keynote speaker. Conference registration of the keynote speaker and chair persons is mandatory and a prerequisite for participating.

Room rental and AV equipment

The ESB conference organisers will allocate standard conference rooms for the symposia and will offer the standard AV equipment that is required in these rooms. The use of any other extra materials is at the account of the symposia organisers.
